3M is looking for a Market Development Leader for Sub Sahara Africa located in Woodmead, Sandton. Overall Job Purpose P&L responsibility for their market/division in the geography Deliver& exceed growth targets and CGM Applies expert knowledge and extensive experience to deal with variations in work conditions and operations to proactively identify and solve complex and diverse problems. Leads the development and implementation of improvements and/or solutions to work processes and tools as well as leading for change in support of business and strategic plans.

Reports to management on key milestones and critical business initiatives. Provides overall Leadership & accountability for direct reports in SSA countries Key Responsibilities Opportunity assessment and prioritization (country, segment, portfolio, …) Development and management of Channel Partners, including IA, contracting, price negotiations, rebate agreements, regular reviews and annual assessment, joint sales programs, POS data and more Plans and directs the implementation of pricing strategies to ensure achievement of overall business plans Provides direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development in end-user selling, development of new applications etc. Support/coaches local team’s development through field work Ability to participate in cross-functional discussions to meet strategic initiatives within assigned area of responsibility Provides input gained from area market knowledge Voice of the Customer and Voice of the Market to core business team and leads development of key strategies and actions to establish targeted business plans Influences improvement of selling skills by using corporate programs like Sales Force Develops implementation of Area plan for new product introductions and guides definition of subsidiary plan for this product/s according with DFSS methodology and the eNPI tools available.

Collaborate with Technical team in South-Africa to support SSA’s technical objectives Is knowledgeable about subsidiary S&OP planning & inventory management.Due to geographic area, good understanding of logistics, import / export and trade terms is essential Responsible for service levels Compliance by example and pro-active coaching Driving Business Transformation strategy aligned to the South Africa Region plan Collaborating with Functions, respective CBL and & respective stakeholders in achieving operational & Strategic growth plans. Collaborating with SGBG CBL, organisation and Area Lead to ensure accelerated growth projects are implemented.

Profile University Degree or equivalent with at least 5-10 years’ experience in Management / Supervisory role Self-starter Savvy traveller in African environment, readiness to travel up to 50+ % of time Commercial experience (incoterms, L/C, contracting, …) and business sense (profitable sustainable growth …) In –depth understanding of key product/applications Acute and practical understanding of business compliance, ability to be a role model in this regard Demonstrated success in field sales experience with junior reps, end-users and channel partners Proven Leadership skills in a matrix environment Strategic while equally strong on execution Demonstrates ability and skills for business planning Knowledge of business units market position, requirements and customer base Solid analytical and financial skills Demonstrates the ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally Strong communication skills (verbal and written / visual) Good understanding of International operations and business processes A team player with strong interpersonal and team building skills Strong negotiation skills with External Partners Ability to lead change and manage complexity Customer Centric mind-set Employment Statement Apply now for this exciting opportunity with 3M.3M is an Equal opportunity employer and as part of our recruitment strategy we aim to promote and develop from Internal.Let us work together to develop your career within 3M.
