Western Cape - Parktown North, Johannesburg - Reporting to the Group Head of Tax, the International Tax Manager will assist in managing the group’s tax affairs, in particular delivering the group’s tax strategy, providing international tax support to the businesses and overseeing material compliance matters throughout the group.The position is Durban based, however our client will consider a person who would like to commute.There will be extensive travel with the role.

The International Tax Manager will have the following key responsibilities: Provide tax support for international M&A activity, including due diligence, financing, structuring and integration Assistance with the tax considerations of organic international growth Provide practical and timely advice to requests from the businesses for tax input on their projects and plans Involvement in overseas tax audits including negotiations with revenue authorities Transfer pricing and transparency: Input into the group’s tax policy and ensuring and monitoring compliance with the group’s tax principles Consider transfer pricing issues around the group, ensuring material intra-group arrangements are priced appropriately Ensure transfer pricing master file and local file documentation requirements are met across the group Manage the group’s preparation and submission of the countries reporting template and associated questions arising from that reporting Managing ETR and cash taxes: Support Group Head of Tax with identification of opportunities, developing strategies, and implementation of tax related projects Consideration of the most appropriate funding structure for overseas expansion Develop and maintain details of material tax risks around the group, feeding details into the half year and year end group reporting process Consider tax implications of the group’s foreign exchange hedging policy and plan to mitigate tax consequences Evaluate the effect of tax legislative changes on the group Consideration of controlled foreign company regulations as they apply to the group Communication of tax matters: Work with the Group Head of Tax to brief the FD, board and senior finance community on material tax related matters Work with the wider group tax teams to ensure accurate and full disclosure of all relevant international tax matters in the specific jurisdiction tax returns and deal with revenue authority queries Work with the wider group tax teams on international tax projects and to understand local tax issues material to the group Liaise and advise other areas within the head office functions Maintain relationships with global tax advisors in the jurisdictions in which the group operates Experience Comprehensive knowledge of international tax matters in the context of a large group with a broad working knowledge of the SA and Africa tax systems Preference for experience of working within a tax team of a large multinational or in a senior advisory role within the profession to large multinational clients CA(SA), LLB, MBA etc with an additional International Tax qualificationadvantageous Must have good interpersonal skills and cultural awareness to build working relationships with company CFO’s, finance teams, advisers, revenue authorities and the rest of the tax team Strong track record of managing and delivering complex projects and managing key stakeholders Able to self-manage workload and work without constant supervision.Able to make recommendations and decisions Cost to company package including benefits
